Appearances can be deceptive. Beneath the CUBE Editor Hybrid SLT 400X’s understated, clean lines lurks a sophisticated modern transport solution with your name written all over it. Featuring a built-in 400Wh battery and mini controller for the lightweight Bosch SX drive unit, we chose a maintenance-free and clean Gates belt drive and Shimano’s 11-speed Alfine hub gears for the ultimate in get-on-and-go ease of use.

FRAME Cube Editor Hybrid SLT 400X

A practical urban bike should be elegant, understated and versatile. That’s why, for the Editor Hybrid’s frame, CUBE has started with lightweight and durable aluminium and then added Smooth Welding at the main tube joints – so it has a clean, almost organic appearance. Cables are fully integrated for longer service life and to complement the uncluttered aesthetic, and they´ve even integrated the 400Wh battery in the down tube and mini controller in the top tube. And the full carbon fork is light, strong and suits the frame’s pared-back aesthetic. We think we ticked all the boxes.

Technologies

Smooth Welding
Smooth Welding isn’t easy, but worthwhile things usually aren’t. It has two advantages. First, and most obviously, it looks great: one tube seems to almost flow into the other. Second, and at least as importantly, it helps to minimise load peaks on welded areas for better frame strength and durability.

Efficient Comfort Geometry
With the specially designed Efficient Comfort Geometry, cycling is a simple pleasure. Whether you’re popping across town or exploring further afield, taking a ride with the family or with friends, for work or for pleasure, CUBE has created a ride experience that will have you coming back for more.

Advanced Internal Cable Routing
Gear and brake cables need a way to get from handlebar controls to frame – but what if there was no need for holes near the head tube? CUBE has come up with a design that takes cables into the frame via the headset, maintaining full internal cable routing but making it even neater and less obtrusive.

Fender & Rack option
A gravel bike is a supremely versatile beast, which is why all gravel models have a fender and rack option. With generous frame clearances to fit comfortable, safe and grippy tyres even with full length mudguards, CUBE has also neatly integrated the rear rack into the mudguard design – and included a rear light, too.

Fixed Integrated Battery
Bosch SX technology incorporates a new, lighter and more configurable battery setup. To make the most of the weight saving, the new battery has been fully integrated into the down tube. This means that it has been positioned optimally for the best weight distribution and handling. In addition, it saves more weight as the down tube is fitted to exactly the right size and no access hatch is required. And the Power More option means you can add an additional 250Wh battery quickly and simply, for extra range. It’s the best of both worlds.

Carbon fork
How important is material choice? When it comes to the fork that holds your front wheel, more important than you might think. Not only is our Carbon Fork exceptionally light and strong, it’s also surprisingly comfortable to ride. And, when you’re weaving your way through city streets, those are all qualities that you’ll appreciate.

Front Carrier Ready
Carrying your belongings, shopping or work bag just got a little easier. The new HIC (Headset Integrated Carrier) fits simply, neatly and very securely on the front of your CUBE bike to add accessible, stable and versatile load-carrying capacity. With the ability to safely accommodate a Eurobox of 300mm x 400mm, up to 20kg in weight and RILink accessories, you’ll wonder how you managed without.

Aluminum Superlite
CUBE’s Aluminium Superlite starts with heat-treated 6061 aluminium, which has the qualities – high fatigue resistance, good stiffness, low weight and excellent strength – that are important for a bicycle frame. Then we make it into double butted tubes, to reduce weight without sacrificing any of its strength. The result? Exceptionally light, strong and tough frames.

Enhancing the eBike
Use the eBike Flow app to download new features and updates for components such as the battery or motor and send them to your eBike via Bluetooth. That way it’s always up to date and you get to enjoy more options.

Recording activities
Track your ride and fitness data as soon as you get started. If desired, the Activity Tracking for iPhone users can also sync all data automatically with Apple Health. When you take a break, the recording stops automatically.

Customising riding modes
Adjust the riding mode exactly to your needs: You can finely adjust the Eco, Tour, Sport and Turbo riding modes so that they offer you more support or consume less power.

Everything at a glance

System Controller

Minimalist, robust Control Unit
The System Controller is the Control Unit for eBikes with the smart system, reduced to the essentials. The deliberately limited number of functions and information facilitates a quick overview and is not distracting while riding. The System Controller is seamlessly integrated into the top tube – this gives the already robust companion additional protection, is hardly noticeable and is perfect for sporty tours and design-oriented eBike fans.

LED indicators
LEDs use different colors to indicate the riding mode as well as the battery charge level in 10 % steps.

Connected in the smart system
The System Controller makes your eBike smart – and is the interface for software updates.

Built into the top tube
The System Controller is hardly noticeable, made of sturdy material and protected from knocks and scratches.

Two buttons

Bosch Mini Remote

As an additional operating panel, the Mini Remote supplements the System Controller, extends the range of functions and enables safe operation. It is connected to the System Controller via Bluetooth and can be flexibly mounted on the handlebar. The buttons near the thumb keep the hands on the handlebar at all times. More keys offer more functions: with the Mini Remote you get practical features like the smart Push Assist and you can turn your eBike light on or off.

Quickly retrofittable
The Mini Remote can be quickly retrofitted and is connected to the System Controller via Bluetooth.
